No More Fun in the Sun
Did you know that certain prescription drugs increase your sensitivity to sun exposure? It’s called photosensitivity. Not only are you more likely to sunburn or experience sensitivity to light, but you could also develop a severe burn. Here are a few common medications that cause increased sun sensitivity:
- Antibiotics
- Antidepressants
- Acne medications
- Antifungal medication
- Some heart medications
Read your medication’s label or speak with your doctor to see if your prescription can cause photosensitivity. And most importantly, avoid direct exposure to sunlight. If you go outside, wear sunscreen and protective clothing, and drink plenty of water.
