Your Evening STI Testing Option

Every other Tuesday, Spectrum Medical offers easy, discreet STI testing that works for your schedule. Stop by Testing After Dark to get screened for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HCV. You can also speak to a member of our team about same-day access to PrEP and DoxyPEP.

Testing: What to Expect

At Spectrum Medical, we strive to make the testing process as simple and accommodating as possible. Our medical assistants will test you for HIV and/or STIs in a confidential and judgment-free environment. We encourage sexually active adults to get tested at least every three months, though individuals with multiple or anonymous partners should consider testing more frequently.

Please note that testing appointments do not include treatment services. If you receive a positive result, our team can help connect you with follow-up care options, including establishing care with a Spectrum Medical provider for treatment and ongoing support.

  • HIV Testing

    We test for HIV through a fingerstick blood draw. Rapid HIV test results are available in approximately one minute. If your result comes back negative, we encourage you to speak with one of our providers to see if PrEP (an HIV prevention medication) may be right for you.

    If your test is reactive, we will support you through the next steps toward medical treatment and achieving viral suppression (becoming “undetectable”). You can learn more about our medical care on our website. For additional information about our HIV care services, call us at 602-604-9500.

  • STI Testing

    STI testing may involve one or more of the following:

    • Anal swab
    • Urine sample
    • Blood sample
    • Oral swab

    Results for STI testing typically return within 3–5 business days. You can view your results in the patient portal; an account will be created for you at check-in.

Did You Know

  • Are existing patients eligible for Testing After Dark?

    Yes! If you are an existing Spectrum Medical patient, please note that the insurance we have on file for you will be billed for Testing After Dark services. You are always welcome to continue using this program for STI testing whenever needed, and our team is here to make the process easy, supportive, and judgment-free.

  • When and where is Testing After Dark held?

    We host Testing After Dark at our Care Center every other Tuesday between 4:30pm and 7:30pm. You must be 18 years of age or older to get tested.

  • What tests are offered during Testing After Dark and how long does it take to get the result?

    We can screen for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and hepatitis C (HCV). Rapid HIV tests are available in about a minute, while STI test results typically take 3-5 days. Results will be posted in your patient portal, which will be created for you at check-in.

  • Can I visit Testing After Dark if I don’t live in Phoenix?

    Absolutely. Spectrum Medical offers accessible testing services for people across the Valley and throughout Arizona, including Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale, Chandler, Gilbert, Peoria, Surprise, and surrounding communities.

  • If I get a positive test result, how do I get treatment?

    If you receive a positive result for HIV or an STI, you will need to book a follow-up appointment with Spectrum Medical to begin treatment at our Care Center. Our staff can walk you through the process during your visit to Testing After Dark.

  • Are the results confidential?

    Always. HIV and STI test results are strictly confidential, whether between you and a provider or in your patient portal.
