The Art of Good Health, an AR Art Experience

Spectrum Medical Care Center and one·n·ten are launching the Art of Good Health AR Art Experience featuring five original works by artist Christopher Jeauhn Bayne on October 11 for National Coming Out Day. The exhibit is powered by the Artivive app for an interactive AR experience.

Art of Well-Being: Celebrating LGBTQIA2S+ Life Through Identity and AR

The collection is inspired by the idea that well-being is an art form. It explores themes of self-discovery, identity, kindness, balance, and the power of chosen family. Christopher, drawing from his personal experiences as a gay man, creates pieces that evoke deep emotions and foster connections, making bold statements about LGBTQIA2S+ life. The works, titled “A Discovery of Self,” “Metamorphosis,” “Kindness,” “Balance,” and “Chosen Family,” go beyond traditional art forms by incorporating AR to take viewers on unexpected visual journeys. This debut promises to engage, inspire, and celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

About the artist - Christopher Jeauhn Bayne

A Discovery of Self

“A Discovery of Self” is a captivating surrealist piece that delves into the deeply personal and often tumultuous journey of coming out within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Through a striking visual narrative, Bayne explores the layered emotions of self-recognition, introspection, and courage. This piece not only encourages viewers to reflect on their own journey of self-discovery but also pays tribute to the shared yet deeply personal experiences within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. It serves as a reminder of the power of authenticity, the beauty in vulnerability, and the strength required to embrace one’s true self repeatedly.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is a digital artwork that symbolically explores the fluidity of gender identity within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. The androgynous figure in the center of the composition evokes introspection as if pausing to contemplate their identity and navigate the vast spectrum of possibilities around gender expression. This artwork invites viewers to reflect on their own journey of self-identity and expression. It captures the fluidity and transformation inherent in gender exploration while celebrating the uniqueness and beauty of living authentically. Through bold colors, abstract forms, and symbolic motifs, Bayne has created a powerful homage to the complexity of gender in today’s world.

Kindness

“Kindness” is a thought-provoking digital artwork that explores the topic of physical health, particularly HIV, within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Instead of emphasizing the fear or stigma often associated with HIV, Bayne takes a conceptual and compassionate approach, focusing on the theme of kindness towards oneself and others. The artwork encourages viewers to reconsider their perceptions of HIV by shifting the focus to a narrative of empathy and beauty. Bayne’s use of transformed virus imagery and symbolic layers evokes a sense of healing and emphasizes the importance of kindness not only in how we treat others but also in how we approach ourselves and our health.

Balance

“Balance” reimagines Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous Vitruvian Man through a modern lens focused on mental health. The artwork is inspired by the contributions of LGBTQIA2S+ artists throughout history and aims to prompt viewers to contemplate the intricacies of mental health and the individual experiences that shape us. It highlights the importance of vulnerability, support systems, and the gradual journey toward healing. The piece offers a visually striking and emotionally impactful experience.

Chosen Family

“Chosen Family” is a powerful reflection on the resilience, unity, and deep emotional connections found within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. This artwork poignantly addresses the reality of familial rejection that many members of the community face and the creation of “chosen families” – intimate and supportive networks that transcend biological ties. “Chosen Family” incorporates visual opulence and emotional intensity, reinforcing the central theme of chosen families and the richness of queer culture.
