Take Control of Your Health

Did you know that between 1,800 and 4,000 residents in Arizona don’t know they are living with HIV? On June 27th, National HIV Testing Day, Spectrum Medical and Walgreens teamed up to combat the stigmatization of HIV and spread awareness about the importance of testing. The event included free HIV testing with results available in just one minute and provided education on preventative measures, treatment options, and linkage to care.

Know Your Status

Victor E. Avila, the Director of Community Relations, highlighted the importance of regular HIV testing in an interview with KTAZ-TV, Telemundo Arizona, stating, “Any sexually active person should get tested for HIV. If someone is sexually active, it’s recommended they get tested every 3 to 6 months. “
At Spectrum Medical Care, inclusivity is at the core of our mission as an HIV-neutral safe space. Whether you test negative or positive for HIV, we are here to support you with personalized preventive measures or treatment options.

Embrace Self-Advocacy

In the LGBTQ+ community, self-advocacy is essential, particularly for people seeking gender-affirming care. Take control of your health and identity by finding healthcare providers who understand your unique needs. In the fight against HIV stigma, self-advocacy plays a role. Raise your voice, educate others, and encourage regular HIV testing to prevent further transmission.
